Droid : Icons Have Come a Great Distance

It used to be, you had three to five icons on your cell phone to tell you everything that is taking place with your cellular world. These days there is amplitude of icons, and at the forefront are the iPhone and the Verizon Droid.

Now you can see not only voicemail as an icon, but if you missed a call, if there’s a call on hold, new voicemail or new e-mail message. You may know if there’s a problem with your SMS or MMS delivery, if there is new instant message, if info is syncing or if a song is playing on your phone. The Droid and the icons it has onboard reflect the new smartphone technology.

If the ringer is off in silent mode or if the speakerphone is on – there is a separate icon for it. You can tell if there is a call on hold, if the call is forwarded or if there us a calling progress. It will also tell you if GPS is enabled and if it is working.

The Droid icons are smooth, easy to identify and have a tendency to convey what they mean in a comparatively nice presentation that allows for ease in understanding. The Droid desires this level of icons as it does so much. It’s got an aircraft mode where wireless services are automatically set to off.

All of these icons are show in the standing bar on the apex of the Droid. Naturally, you get the usual icons, but there also are icons for outstanding Notifications and Messages. This indicates that all of the calls, texts and new mails are all shown in this section. They’re going to be there until you take care of them. This is great for when you are away from your cell-phone.

The Droid doesn’t give audio reminders, but it is doing give you lots of icons and a green blinking light that will turn on the standing bar so that you can take care of any outstanding actions that are shown by the varied icon notices. All you need to do then is activate your Droid and touch the specific icon that measures up to an action. You can then sort it.

For as cool as the Droid is, occasionally it needs to be rebooted. You can tell when this is occurring when the translucent wheel icon starts spinning nonstop. You will need to use the Advance Task Killer if you have it, and can use it. There are different types icons for various services and apps. Everything from apps to actions to take, Droid icons are easily read and pretty clear cut.
